This video on Hardness Variability and Sample Selection is the second in the SMC Masterclass series on comminution.
In this second of our six-part comminution Masterclass series we look at how ore hardness varies from deposit to deposit world wide. Its principal focus is on answering the question “How many ore characterisation tests should be conducted?” so that uncertainty about hardness variability is minimised. A worked example is conducted where sampling is carried out in stages as a project goes through its various stages from initial scoping through to the final bankable study. An equation for estimating the requisite number of samples is described in detail.
